Monitoring
BioDeck

Overview
You've tried a break reminder before. You uninstalled it within a week.
They all fail the same way. They pop up on the screen you're working on. Getting your train of thought back after an interruption takes ten to twenty-five minutes, so a reminder that saved you twenty seconds of eye strain just cost you twenty minutes of focus. No wonder you killed it.
If you write code, trade, edit or design for eight hours straight, your deck is already the thing you glance at without breaking stride. BioDeck puts all of it there. Nothing ever covers your work. You catch a key out of the corner of your eye and take the break when you hit a natural stopping point, instead of when a timer decides for you.
⌨️ On your keys
⏱ Focus Stamina. A gauge that fills as you work without a real break, with the minutes in the middle. Green under an hour, amber past sixty, a slow purple pulse past eighty. It follows the ultradian rhythm your body already runs on, and it pauses on its own when you step away.
👁 Eye Rest. The 20-20-20 rule on a key. The timer runs twenty-five seconds: five to find somewhere far to look, twenty with your eyes resting there. It releases the ciliary muscle, the one that holds your eyes focused up close all day.
💧 Blink Exercise. Fifteen complete blinks: close, squeeze, open. This isn't a reminder to blink more. Somebody tested that idea. They used a tone to push people from 11.6 to 23.5 blinks a minute, and their symptoms didn't significantly change. What actually tracks with how your eyes feel is how many of those blinks are complete. A half-blink doesn't spread the tear film, and it doesn't press the glands that keep the film from evaporating. So this trains completeness instead, at a dose that comes from a 2025 trial built to find the best one.
🫁 Box Breathing. Four in, four holding, four out, four holding. The square on the key is the instruction. It grows, holds, shrinks, holds, and keeps looping until you press again.
🖐 Wrist Stretch. Four thirty-second holds, palm up then palm down on each arm, to take pressure off the median nerve inside the carpal tunnel. A soft note tells you when to switch, since you're not looking at the key while you stretch.
◎ Health Rings. Three goals for the day. They close, and then BioDeck stops asking. The panel keeps your last seven days, your streak, and a thirty-day total.
It installs with a ready-made Stream Deck XL profile, so the six keys are laid out for you from the first minute.
🔒 It counts your keystrokes. It can't read them.
This is the part you should be suspicious about, so here is exactly how it works.
The counting runs in a separate signed app, with its own entry in System Settings under Privacy & Security, then Accessibility. You can see it sitting there, and you can revoke it without touching Stream Deck. It never looks at an event. It increments a number.
What it hands to the plugin is a plain text file you can open yourself. Inside is a status word and a count:
ok 14823
That's everything the channel can carry. No key codes, no text, no window titles, no app names. It isn't a promise about the code. It's all the file is capable of saying.
Zero network requests. Your statistics live in a readable JSON file on your own disk, and they never leave the machine.
⚖️ Honest about the limits
▸ Nothing here is driven by the dials of a Stream Deck +. The keys work normally on that device. You just don't get anything on the dials or the touch strip yet.
▸ BioDeck is a wellbeing tool, not a medical device. It doesn't diagnose or treat anything.
🌍 Every key and every panel is bilingual, English and Spanish, following whatever language Stream Deck is set to.
⚡ Native Swift, universal for Apple Silicon and Intel, signed and notarized. A 0.8 MB download that uses about 0.1% of one core.
Break reminders fail because they pop up on the screen you're working on, and getting your focus back costs ten to twenty-five minutes. BioDeck puts the whole thing on your Stream Deck instead, so nothing covers your work and you take the break at a natural stopping point.
