Clipchamp Hotkeys

Turn any Stream Deck into a real control surface for Microsoft Clipchamp, the free video editor built into Windows. Type an exact clip volume or fade on a number pad, jump to any category in one press, drive timeline zoom and playhead scrub on six dials, and put 33 commands on real keys across 6 categories: Transport, Edit, Timeline, Panels, Clip Properties, and Output.

Clipchamp's editor does not accept simulated keystrokes at all, so this plugin drives Clipchamp the way Clipchamp drives itself: every key speaks straight to the editor, pressing the app's own buttons. Your keys work with the editor open even when another window has focus.

EASY LINK, BUILT IN

The Easy Link module is built in, nothing else to install. Hold the key about a second while Clipchamp is in front and the deck binds it to this plugin's profile. The profile switches in whenever Clipchamp takes focus: leave it and your previous profile returns. No setup pages, no paths, no window titles. Easy Link sits on the top-left key of every bundled profile.

THE NUMBER PAD

The Stream Deck XL and Stream Deck + XL profiles open on a value pad. Select a clip, press Volume, Fade In or Fade Out, type the number and press Set. 100 lands unity volume, 1.5 lands a fade in seconds. Back and Clear edit the entry, and an echo key shows the armed target and your digits before anything is sent. The pad writes the editor's own sliders, so it needs a clip selected.

Category keys sit beside the pad on the same page. One press jumps to the page holding that category on the deck you pressed it on, so the same key does the right thing on a 32-key deck and a 36-key deck.

DIALS

Four dials on the Stream Deck +, six on the Stream Deck + XL:

- Timeline Zoom: turn to zoom in and out, one step per click. Press to zoom the timeline to fit.

- Playhead Scrub: the strip shows the live playhead position and clip length. Press to play or pause, hold to jump back to the start.

- Undo / Redo: turn clockwise to redo, counter-clockwise to undo.

- Panel Cycle: turn to cycle the sidebar panels. Press for My media, tap to collapse the timeline.

Each dial carries its own labelled touch strip.

TRUTHFUL KEYS

The Undo, Redo, Export and Play/Pause keys track Clipchamp's real state and dim when the command cannot apply. A live playhead readout key shows the current position and project duration from the editor's own seek bar. A Clipchamp Status key shows which project is open, with a PLAYING badge while the preview plays.

HOW THE KEYS WORK

Drop a category action onto any key and pick the command from the dropdown. The key wears that command's artwork, so your deck reads at a glance.

PER-KEY SOUNDS

Every key can play a sound the moment you press it. Thirty ship in the box. Pick one per key in the property inspector, or leave it silent. Pairs with our free Sound Sampler: record any sound on your PC and it appears in the picker.

READY-MADE LAYOUTS

Six bundled profiles, one per deck, and every one carries all 33 commands. The 15-key profile gives you a color-coded category hub plus one page per category. The Mini, Neo and Stream Deck + profiles page through the roster, with the four dials on every Stream Deck + page. The Stream Deck XL and Stream Deck + XL profiles open on the value pad and category keys, then lay the roster out by category, with six dials on every Stream Deck + XL page. Home sits on the same key everywhere.

HOW IT WORKS

The plugin ships a small Windows helper that drives the editor through Microsoft's UI Automation, the same accessibility layer screen readers use. Nothing installs system-wide.

REQUIREMENTS

- Windows 10 or 11 with the Microsoft Store Clipchamp desktop app, built and tested against Clipchamp 4.5.10920.0.

- Commands act on the frontmost open Clipchamp project.

Clipchamp Hotkeys 3.0.1.0: an easier command picker, Easy Link v3.1 and reliability fixes. Still 33 commands in 6 categories, up to six dials and six bundled profiles, for the Microsoft Store Clipchamp app on Windows.

Pick by face: a command key's settings now show the commands as a grid of their key art, so you choose by what the key will show.

Easy Link: the linked key now shows the app's icon above its name when one can be read, and its settings show each link's face. A failed link plays a shorter chime. Easy Link is now a key action only and can no longer sit on a dial; if you put it on one, move it to a key. The bundled profiles always had it on a key.

Easy Link on more than one deck: the Stream Deck app installs one new profile at a time, so linking several decks at once could leave all but one on its old profile. Each extra deck now comes up about 12 seconds after the one before, once per deck (and once more after this update).

Fixed: a refused profile switch from Open Category or Back no longer stops the plugin. Helper processes now start in your temp folder, so they cannot hold the plugin's folder open during an update. The Open Category settings now name the decks it works on, and say it shows an alert on the others.
