Daybar
Overview
Daybar is your working day as a bar of chocolate. Put it on your Stream Deck keys and every key is a piece. As the day goes by the bar is eaten, bite by bite, so one look at your deck tells you how much of the day is left.
A BAR FOR EVERY DAY — Before your day starts, the bar waits in its wrapper and says when it opens. At your start time the wrapper comes off, and a bite is taken at even steps until your end time, when nothing is left but foil and crumbs. Set a break and nothing is eaten during it. Choose your working days; on the others the bar stays wrapped.
EATEN LIKE A REAL BAR — A piece goes in four bites, and the pieces go a column at a time from one end, turning round at each column, the way you would break them off. Eight keys give you thirty-two steps through the day; more keys make a finer clock.
SIXTEEN KINDS OF CHOCOLATE — Milk with a cocoa pod pressed into it. Dark, in small sharp squares. White, flecked with vanilla. Ruby. Hazelnut, with whole nuts. Caramel, the filling showing in the bite. Ube, with a swirl. Pistachio, Dubai style. Orange, with a candied slice. Vegan, with oat milk. Gummy bears, three on every piece. Wafer, its layers in the bite. Blueberry. Strawberry. Banana. Mint, with a cool green filling. Or let it be a different one every bar.
SEASONAL, IN WRAPPERS OF THEIR OWN — Choose Seasonal and the bar changes with the year: cherry blossom in spring, lemon sorbet in summer, pumpkin spice in autumn, gingerbread in winter. And for the holidays, while they last: Valentine with raspberry hearts, Easter with speckled eggs, Halloween with a jack-o'-lantern, candy cane for Christmas, champagne for the new year. For the southern hemisphere, the seasons turn round.
A WRAPPER FOR EVERY KIND — Each kind waits in a sleeve of its own, printed tone on tone and stamped in foil: deco fans, pinstripes, harlequin diamonds, eight-pointed stars. Inside, the bar lies on gold, silver, rose, copper, pearl or rainbow foil.
YOUR THIRTIETH BAR HAS A GOLDEN TICKET — Daybar counts a bar on every day you open one. Unwrap number thirty and a golden ticket lies across the bar, then on the piece eaten last. Tap that key the same day and it opens your ticket's page on 7bp.de: promo codes for other 7bp plugins, every wrapper as a wallpaper, and a picture of your achievement to share. There is another at 100, 250, 500 and 1000 bars, for everyone who gets that far. You can switch golden tickets off.
DRAWN TO LOOK GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT — Bevelled pieces lit from the top left, a mould pattern, gloss, the scalloped edge teeth leave, crumbs on the foil. A bite makes the piece flinch and sends crumbs flying. Now and then a glint of light crosses the bar.
WHEN IS THAT PIECE DUE — Tap any key and every piece shows the time it will be eaten, pressed into the chocolate like a maker's mark. Or keep the times on always.
TWO MORE WAYS TO EAT IT — As a timer: a bar that lasts as long as you set, opened and paused with a tap. Or by hand: a tap takes a piece, for tasks done, glasses of water or pages read. Hold a key for a fresh bar.
THE INFOBAR — On a Stream Deck Neo: the time left, when the next bite is due, and the bar in small.
NOW AND THEN, A SURPRISE — On a few days of the year the bar is not quite itself. At Halloween, watch out for spiders. It always keeps the time, and one switch turns surprises off.
SOUND, IF YOU LIKE — Foil when the bar opens, a crunch for a bite, a snap when a piece is finished. One switch turns it off.
NOTHING ELSE — No account, no analytics, and no network in daily use. Daybar reads your computer's clock and nothing more. Only a golden ticket you tap opens a page in your browser.
macOS 12 or newer and Windows 10 or newer, with the Stream Deck app 7.6 or newer. Works on any Stream Deck with keys; the Infobar action needs a Stream Deck Neo.
Surprises.
For the days of Halloween, a spider walks across your bar now and then
On the first of April the bar is not quite itself. We will not say more
Whatever happens, it keeps the time: every bite falls when it is due, and as much is gone as the clock says
Prefer the bar as it is? One switch in the settings turns surprises off
