Excalidraw Hotkeys

Hold the Easy Link key while Excalidraw is in front and the link is made: the deck follows the drawing, not your browser. Your Stream Deck and Stream Deck + drive Excalidraw, the virtual whiteboard. Four dials work canvas zoom, undo and redo, font size, and arrange depth, and all 67 Excalidraw commands sit on real keys across 6 categories: Tools, View & Canvas, Zoom & Pan, Edit & Clipboard, Arrange, and Text & Shape.

EASY LINK, BUILT IN

The Easy Link module is built in, nothing else to install. Hold the key about a second while Excalidraw is in front and the deck binds it to this plugin's profile. The profile switches in whenever you go back to Excalidraw, and your previous one returns when you leave. A short press does nothing, so a stray tap never relinks.

Because Excalidraw runs in a browser, the link is made on what you are actually using. Installed as an app, it links Excalidraw itself. In a tab, it links excalidraw.com rather than every window of your browser. Easy Link sits on the top-left key of both bundled profiles, and lock, fail and clear cues play out of the box.

STREAM DECK + DIALS

Four dials map to the moves you make most:

- Canvas Zoom: turn to zoom in and out, press to reset to 100 percent, tap the strip to zoom out, fit, or in, hold to zoom to the selection. The strip shows the live zoom percent read from Excalidraw.

- Undo / Redo: turn counter-clockwise to undo and clockwise to redo, press to finish editing, tap left to undo and right to redo. The strip shows live what can be undone or redone.

- Font Size: turn to grow or shrink the selected text, press for the font picker.

- Arrange Depth: turn to move the selection forward and back, press to bring it to the front.

Each dial paints its own art on the touch strip, so you always know which is which.

HOW THE KEYS WORK

Drop a category action onto any key and pick the command from the dropdown. The key instantly wears that command's artwork, so your deck reads at a glance. Press the key and the shortcut lands in Excalidraw exactly like a physical keyboard.

PER-KEY SOUNDS

Every key can play a sound when you press it, with 33 sounds in the box: clicks, toggles, confirms, and the three Easy Link cues. Pick one per key in the property inspector, or leave it silent. Pairs with our free Sound Sampler: record any sound on your PC and play it from any key.

LIVE STATUS

The Excalidraw Status key is a live readout rendered from Excalidraw's interface. Three modes: active Tool with a zoom badge, Zoom percent with a selection flag, and History, the true undo and redo availability. Turn on Follow Excalidraw and the deck jumps to the Arrange page when you select something.

READY-MADE LAYOUTS

Two bundled profiles, one per device. The 15-key profile gives you a color-coded category hub plus one page per category, all 67 commands pre-wired, with a Home key on every page. The Stream Deck + profile places the four dials and seven starter keys. Both carry the Easy Link key in the top-left slot and install on the first key press.

YOUR SHORTCUTS, NOT OURS

Every key ships with Excalidraw's stock shortcut, and every key is remappable. Changed one in your browser? Type the new combination into the property inspector, or click Capture and press it once. Formats like Ctrl+Shift+E, Num.1, Space, and bare keys such as R are all understood.

BUILT FOR EXCALIDRAW ON WINDOWS

Every key sends Excalidraw's real keyboard shortcut to the active window, so behavior matches what Excalidraw does. The plugin never steals focus or targets a window; keys go to whatever app is active.

Works with excalidraw.com and the Excalidraw PWA open in a Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Edge) on Windows.

If the page cannot be read at the moment you hold the key, the link is refused instead of capturing your whole browser, and you can retry with the drawing in front.

Both bundled profiles seat the key in the top-left slot, on the 15-key hub page and beside the four dials on the Stream Deck +. Put Easy Link on a Stream Deck + dial instead and the same hold runs from the touch strip. The property inspector lists every link with its live state, and a link can be muted or removed there.

Capture sounds. Lock, fail and clear play out of the box, so a link, a refusal and a removal each sound different with nothing to set up. All three clips also show up in the Key Sound picker, which now lists 33 bundled sounds.
