Fireflies

Fireflies fills your XENEON EDGE with up to 8,192 fireflies around a clear clock. Each one flashes at its own pace and listens only to its neighbours, with a slight delay. That is all it takes for a spatial chimera to appear, a pattern from the mathematics of synchronisation: patches of fireflies flash together while others nearby stay out of step. The patches grow, break apart and heal, again and again, roughly once a minute. The simulation runs live, in its own thread, and is drawn on your GPU.

One species per colour: the fireflies in the hour, minute and seconds colours each fall into step only with their own kind, so three rhythms overlap on the screen. Or let them form one crowd, or switch to a global synchrony where everyone flashes together.

47 hand-tuned colour styles, dark and light, plus a fully custom style: background, text, accent, hour, minute and seconds colours, and font.

Nine fonts, HH:MM with small seconds, 24-hour or 12-hour. The digits never shift as the time changes.

Make it yours from the iCUE settings panel: cycle speed, number of fireflies, light intensity, glow duration and drift.

Every iCUE tile, wide or upright. On the large tiles, change the style with the arrows on the screen or pick one from the full list.
