Godot Studio Deck
Overview
Hold the Easy Link key while Godot is in front and the deck follows the editor. Godot Studio Deck puts 271 commands for the Godot 4.7.2 editor on labeled keys across 22 categories, adds ten dials that zoom, orbit, pan, dolly and move the 3D camera and scrub history and animation, and ships a ready-made profile for six Stream Deck models.
EASY LINK, BUILT IN
Nothing else to install. Hold the key about a second while Godot is in front and the deck binds it to this plugin's profile. The profile switches in whenever Godot takes focus and hands your previous profile back when you leave.
THE EDITOR BRIDGE
Press Setup once with your project open and reload it. The small add-on it installs gives the camera dials and the Camera Rig keys a direct line to the 3D viewport, with no pointer over the viewport and no click into the canvas. Fourteen Camera Rig keys mirror the dials: Dolly Forward and Back, Pan Left, Right, Up and Down, Zoom In and Out, and Move along the X, Y and Z axes in both directions. Hold a key and it keeps travelling.
TEN DIALS
- Viewport Zoom: turn to zoom the viewport under your pointer, like the scroll wheel.
- Orbit (left / right) and Orbit (up / down): one Orbit View step per detent; press for Orbit 180 or Front View.
- List Scroll: step through whatever has keyboard focus, the FileSystem dock, the scene tree, a tab strip; press for Enter. The strip names the focused item.
- Undo / Redo: counter-clockwise to undo, clockwise to redo.
- Animation Scrub: step the Animation panel's timeline; press to Play.
- Pan (left / right) and Pan (up / down): slide the 3D view with perspective held.
- Dolly (forward / back): travel along your line of sight, carrying the orbit centre with you, so zoom keeps working from wherever you land.
- Move (X / Y / Z): slide the view along one world axis; press to switch axis, and the strip names it.
THE TOP HUB READS THE EDITOR
The 15-key profile opens on a hub of keys that show what Godot is doing. The workbench keys light up for the active screen and open that workbench's categories. Save Scene shows the unsaved mark the moment the scene changes. Run starts the project, its robot dances while the game runs, and the same key stops it. Pause / Continue, Run Current Scene, Save All, Quick Open, Undo and Redo sit beside them.
MIDI KEYS
Fourteen MIDI keys play a one-octave keyboard, twelve notes plus Octave Up and Octave Down, straight into your running project as real MIDI events through a shim the Setup key installs. Start the project first; a note key alerts when nothing is running.
PROFILES
Six profiles, one per deck. Stream Deck: 28 pages, the top hub, five workbench hubs and 22 category pages with a Home key each. Stream Deck +: one page with Easy Link, the transport and save keys and four dials, six more in the actions list. Stream Deck + XL: 11 pages of category bands, six dials on every page. Stream Deck XL: the same bands on 32 keys. Stream Deck Mini: two pages with Setup, the transport and save keys, Undo and Redo. Stream Deck Neo: the Stream Deck + page plus a debugger page. Easy Link is on the first page of every profile.
MAKE IT YOURS
Changed your Godot keymap? Capture any combination in the property inspector and the key sends exactly that; it works in Multi Actions too. Every key can carry an optional click sound: 33 bundled sounds, silent by default, plus anything you record with the free Sound Sampler plugin.
SETUP
Press Setup with Godot closed to switch on the editor's Accessibility Support (the setting the truthful keys read) and breakpoint sync for the debugger. Press it again with your project open to install the MIDI shim and the bridge add-on into that project. Each press reports what it did on the key.
REQUIREMENTS
Windows 10 or 11, the Stream Deck app 6.9 or newer, and the Godot 4.7.2 Windows editor. The bridge add-on and the MIDI shim are two small GDScript add-ons the Setup key copies into your project; nothing else is installed.
1.0.2.0, for the Godot 4.7.2 Windows editor.
- Pick by face: a command key's settings show the command list as a grid of the key art, so you choose by what the key will show.
- Fixed: a custom hotkey captured with an arrow key or a numpad operator (+, -, *, / or .) never fired. Capture now stores those keys in a form the plugin can send; capture any such hotkey again.
- Easy Link: the linked key shows the app's icon above its name when one can be read, and its settings show each link's face. A failed link plays a shorter chime. Easy Link is now a key action only; if you put it on a dial, move it to a key. The bundled profiles always had it on a key.
- Easy Link on more than one deck: linking several decks at once could leave all but one on its old profile. Each extra deck now comes up about 12 seconds after the one before.
- A refused profile switch from Open Category, Back or a workbench key no longer stops the plugin.
- Helper processes start in your temp folder, so they cannot hold the plugin's folder open during an update.
- The game watch behind the Run key uses far less CPU: it no longer runs a Windows process query twice a second.
- A helper that restarted could fail the next key press or reading. It no longer does.
- The Open Category settings name Home and the decks the key works on.
