Homelab Monitor
by ALLEZfaces
Overview
Homelab Monitor turns your Stream Deck into a live status board for your homelab. Servers, Proxmox VMs and LXCs, Docker containers, storages and Uptime Kuma monitors get their own keys, and every key turns green, amber or red with its latest reading.
Data sources
- SSH, agentless: any Linux machine as user@host or an ~/.ssh/config alias. Nothing is installed; only the kernel's own counters are read. Your SSH keys and ssh-agent are used; password-only users pair once (the password installs the plugin's own key and is never stored).
- Proxmox VE (SSH as root): a node brings all its VMs, LXCs and storages; with the QEMU guest agent, RAM, disk and Docker inside VMs too.
- Docker: containers on the machine, in LXCs and in guest-agent VMs, with state, health, CPU, RAM, network and disk I/O.
- Netdata agents, including the last 25 minutes of history. A machine seen twice is merged into one.
- Uptime Kuma (API key): every monitor (websites, ping, ports, DNS, containers, databases…) with its state and response time. Read-only.
Everything is added in the Machines panel of any key: SSH machines (or import them from ~/.ssh/config), Netdata and Kuma, each with a Test button and a live status dot; refresh every 2 to 60 seconds.
Metrics
CPU, CPU temperature, RAM, swap, disk, IO wait, load, network, disk I/O, power, pressure, processes, TCP connections, fan, internet ping, failed services, pending updates, disk temperature and SMART, Proxmox backup age, storage usage, response time. Every key can set its own amber and red thresholds.
Actions
- Machine Status: online / offline, uptime and latency.
- Live Metric: one metric as a mini graph, gauge or bar (hold to switch).
- Wide Graph: one continuous graph across neighbouring keys of a row.
- Board Slot: fill keys with it and each finds its place: status in the first column, one metric per column, one machine per row; pin rows, hold to turn the page. "Homelab Board" profiles included for MK.2, Mini, XL, Neo, + and Mobile.
Press a key to
- open a terminal already logged in: ssh, a shell in an LXC or container, htop, live system or container log, docker stats (Terminal, iTerm, Ghostty; Windows Terminal, PowerShell, Command Prompt);
- run in the background: restart, stop or start a container, reboot, shut down or start a VM or LXC, reboot a machine. The key spins while it runs, then shows a check mark or an exclamation mark. Restarting or stopping asks for a second press;
- run your own command, in a terminal or in the background;
- open a monitored page or the Kuma dashboard.
Alerts
When something turns red (offline, stopped, past its red threshold) and stays red for about 10 seconds, its keys blink and a notification appears on the computer that runs Stream Deck (macOS Notification Center, Windows notification), and another when it recovers; one thing notifies at most every 5 minutes. Each part can be switched off, and alerts can be muted per machine or per key.
Stream Deck + and + XL: every action works on the dials too, each on its own part of the touch strip; push = key press, rotate and touch change the metric, time span or page.
A key's Title becomes the name shown on it. A demo mode shows simulated machines.
Requirements: Linux machines with SSH key login (or one-time pairing); root SSH for Proxmox; passwordless root or sudo for background commands; Uptime Kuma 1.21+. Runs locally: no account, no cloud, no subscription.
Version 1.1
- Wide Graph grows in height too: put it on keys below as well and the graph spans several rows, with a finer value axis and labels. Any shape works (a row, a block, a T or an L); the key with the machine shows the name and the value.
