Inwords
Overview
The time, in words, on your Stream Deck Neo's Infobar.
Inwords writes the time the way you would say it: "quarter past three", "Viertel nach drei", "il est presque midi". And when the words change, the change is a small piece of typography in motion.
SAID THE WAY IT'S SAID WHERE YOU ARE — Eleven languages, each the way it is spoken in your part of the world. In Hamburg it is "Viertel vor vier", in Vienna "dreiviertel vier", in Zürich "Viertel ab drei". Mexico City says "cuarto para las cuatro", Madrid "las cuatro menos cuarto"; London "quarter past", New York "quarter after"; Lisbon "três e um quarto", São Paulo "três e quinze". Inwords picks the way of saying it from your computer's region, and you can choose another.
ENGLISH, DEUTSCH, FRANÇAIS, ESPAÑOL, ITALIANO, NEDERLANDS, PORTUGUÊS, SVENSKA, DANSK, NORSK, 日本語.
THREE WAYS TO TELL IT — Natural: five-minute steps, said the way a person would ("just after quarter past three", "almost midnight", "Es ist gleich halb vier"). Word clock: five-minute steps, with the minutes between as dots in the corners, like the clocks on the wall. Exact: every minute, or the 24-hour clock, said formally.
ALWAYS AS LARGE AS IT FITS — The Infobar is small, so every phrase is measured with its real letters and set as large as it can be: on one line, two or three, never broken in the middle of "es ist" or "las tres". "Midnight" fills the bar on its own.
CHANGES WORTH WATCHING — When the words change they don't just swap. The words that stay glide to their new places, the ones that go tumble out letter by letter, the new ones bloom in, and a new hour arrives with a little twinkle. Or let the letters roll over like a departure board, or type themselves out.
MAKE IT YOURS — Four typefaces (modern, rounded, serif, typewriter) and five colourways, one of which follows the sky through the day, from night through dawn to dusk. Begin with "It's" if you like, add the part of the day ("in the afternoon", "nachmittags", "午後"), and call noon and midnight by name.
PRIVATE — Inwords reads the clock and your computer's language and region, nothing else. No network, no account.
