Key Pets

A desk pet for your Stream Deck, ready for the holidays: a virtual pet, a bit like a Tamagotchi, with nothing to feed, clean or lose. A reindeer for Christmas, snow, and pets that greet New Year's Eve. It lives on one key and answers when you pet it.

Eleven animals: cat, dog, fox, rabbit, hamster, owl, frog, capybara, axolotl, penguin and a red-nosed reindeer. Seventy-four coats, six backgrounds or none, and as many pets as you have keys. From 24 to 26 December every pet is its happiest self, and at midnight on 31 December each greets the new year.

It breathes, blinks and looks around, does something bigger every few minutes, and reacts when you press its key. Hold it longer and it answers that too, in its own way: a cat slow-blinks, a dog wags, a fox looks at you first.

Each animal has its own temperament and keeps its own hours. The cat says when it has had enough; the dog gets happier the more you press. The fox is slow to forgive, the rabbit bolts, the hamster freezes, the owl barely notices you, the frog hops off, the axolotl darts off, and the capybara and the penguin only get happier.

Coats from orange tabby, tuxedo and siamese to arctic fox and snowy owl. Five emote bubbles that say how it feels, and a switch to turn them off.

No hunger bar, no coins, no notifications. Its mood follows the attention you give it, and shows in what it does, never as a number.

Runs on Stream Deck 6.9 or later, on macOS and Windows. It never touches the network.

A new animal for the holidays: the reindeer. Gentle and a herd animal, it warms to you over a few days, always looks to see what the pet next to it is doing, and is liveliest on long winter evenings. Six coats, one of them with a red nose.

A new background: snow, still flakes on a winter night.

Your pets keep the holidays. From 24 to 26 December each is its happiest self, and at midnight on New Year's Eve every pet on your deck greets the new year.

Opening a key's settings no longer resets how your pet feels about you.

Seventy-four coats, six backgrounds and eleven animals in all.

If Key Pets keeps you company, a rating on this page helps more than anything else.
