Mac Menu Trigger
by Schwab Music
Overview
Mac Menu Trigger gives you instant one-press access to any menu item in any Mac application — no keyboard shortcut required.
If a command exists in the menu bar of any Mac app, you can put it on a Stream Deck button. Deeply nested menus, app-specific commands, items with no shortcut — all become single button presses.
How It Works
Type the path to any menu item using a simple arrow syntax:
File > Export as PDF…
Format > Font > Bold
Object > Add Behavior > Basic Motion > Throw
That's it. Press the button, the command fires.
Two Targeting Modes
Frontmost App — Sends the command to whatever application is currently active. Perfect for universal commands like formatting, saving, or window management that work the same way across many apps.
Specific App — Targets one named application directly, even if it's running in the background. Ideal for dedicated profiles built around a single app like Apple Motion, Final Cut Pro, or Logic Pro.
Works With Any App
Mac Menu Trigger uses macOS UI scripting, which means it works with virtually every Mac application — including apps with no native scripting support such as Apple Motion, Final Cut Pro, and most third-party creative tools.
Fallback Menu Path (optional — Button and Dial Press only)
Some menu items change their label depending on the current state of the app. For example, Final Cut Pro shows either Show Timeline Index or Hide Timeline Index depending on whether the index is visible — never both at the same time.
Enter the alternate path in the Fallback Menu Path field. When the button is pressed:
The primary path is attempted first
If it fails (because that menu item is not currently available), the fallback path is tried automatically
If both fail, an alert is shown
Primary: View > Show Sidebar
Fallback: View > Hide Sidebar

macOS 12 or later · Stream Deck Software 6.9 or later · Accessibility permission required (macOS will prompt on first use)
What's New in v1.1
- Dial Action — Mac Menu Trigger now works on Stream Deck Plus dials. Assign a separate menu item to CCW, CW, and Press, all sharing a single App Target setting. Press also supports the Fallback Menu Path.
- Fallback Menu Path — For toggle menu items where macOS swaps the label based on app state (e.g. Show Sidebar / Hide Sidebar), enter a second path. If the primary path fails, the fallback is tried automatically — one button handles both states.
