Macros

Overview

Macros turns a Stream Deck into a small mouse-automation instrument. Press Record, make the gesture you already make, press Record again, then press the key that should keep it. The path appears on the key: a start dot, a finish ring, click markers, pauses and the direction of travel. Each macro gets its own colour. Tap a saved key to replay once; tap again to stop. Hold it while idle to loop, and tap to stop the loop.

It is built for repeatable pointer work: filling the same form, opening the same menu, placing the same object, or walking the same review. Macros records pointer movement and left, right and middle clicks at absolute screen points, with the time between them. Playback speed, loop gap, a safety stop and the display-mismatch policy belong to each key.

The plugin runs entirely on macOS with no companion app, helper executable or native module. It observes the pointer and posts events through macOS scripting facilities. Playback needs Accessibility permission for Elgato Stream Deck; recording works without it. Scroll capture is not supported and is not claimed. Macros requires macOS 13 and Stream Deck 7.6 or newer. The Neo Infobar shows the live state in words.

A macro is a gesture at absolute points, not a guarantee. If the display arrangement changes, the key refuses to play until you re-record or allow scaling. Some applications ignore synthetic pointer events. There is no keyboard capture, no screen content, no network access and no telemetry.

First release.

Record global pointer movement and left, right and middle clicks on macOS.

See the route, start, finish, clicks and pauses drawn on the key.

Each saved macro gets its own colour from a checksum of its own gesture.

Record key: tap to start, tap again to finish, then choose a Macro key.

A pending take survives a restart and is only discarded by a deliberate hold or the inspector.

Tap a Macro key to play once; tap again to stop.

Hold an idle Macro key to loop; tap to stop.

Loops release any held button at every boundary and stop at a safety limit.

An Infinite loop switch per key removes the 10-minute and iteration limits.

Live progress, iteration count and state on the key, and a full status line on the Stream Deck Neo Infobar.

Per-key playback speed, loop gap, iteration cap and display-mismatch policy.

Displays that changed are refused by default; scaling is explicit and reported.

No companion app, no native helper, no scroll capture, no keyboard capture, no network access.

Requires macOS 13+, Stream Deck 7.6+, and Accessibility permission for playback.
