Meridian

Overview

Meridian puts the world on your Stream Deck. Every key is a city under its real sky, with the time there, how far it is from you, and whether the people there are at work, awake or asleep. It is made for anyone who works with people in other time zones and is tired of doing the sums.

THE SKY IS THE REAL ONE — The sun on each key stands where it really stands over that city this minute: low and orange at sunrise, high at noon, gone behind the skyline at dusk. At night the stars come out and the moon is shown in its true phase. The windows in the skyline light up in the evening and go dark as the city goes to bed. Sunrise and sunset are worked out for each city and each date, and are right to within a few minutes.

AT WORK, AWAKE OR ASLEEP — Each key says in one word and one colour whether it is a good time to write, to call, or to leave them alone. Working hours and working days are set per key, in that place's own time, so a key can stand for an office, a team or one person. Give it a name and it shows "Maya" instead of "New York".

WHEN CAN EVERYONE MEET — The Overlap key looks a week ahead and shows the next time all your cities are at work at once, in your own time, and for how long. If there is no such hour, as with San Francisco and Tokyo, it shows the kindest one: the time most people are at work and nobody has to be woken.

TURN EVERY CLOCK AT ONCE — Tap Overlap and the whole deck glides to that moment: the suns move, the lights come on, the statuses change, and you see the meeting from every seat. The Earlier and Later keys turn the clocks by 15 minutes up to 3 hours a press, as far as three days either way; hold one to keep going. While the clocks are turned, every key has a gold frame so the planned time is never mistaken for the present. Tap Overlap again to come back to now, or leave it and the clocks return by themselves.

TAP A CITY FOR THE DETAILS — The date there, the difference from UTC and from you, today's sunrise and sunset, and when work starts or ends.

130 CITIES, AND ANY OTHER PLACE — Search by city, country or time zone. Nineteen cities are drawn with the landmark they are known by, from the Eiffel Tower to the Sydney Opera House. For anywhere not on the list, type its time zone. A new key picks the next city on a tour of the world by itself, starting with your own, so a deck is set up in seconds.

THE INFOBAR — On a Stream Deck Neo, put Infobar on the Infobar: your own time and date, the overlap, and every city as a dot on one day of sky from midnight to midnight, so who is in daylight and who is in the dark shows at a glance.

SUMMER TIME, HALF HOURS AND THE DATE LINE — All handled. Daylight saving changes come from your computer's own time zone rules, so they are as current as your system. India's half hour and Nepal's three quarters are shown as they are. When it is already tomorrow somewhere, the key names the day.

NOTHING ELSE — No account, no network, no analytics, no permissions. Meridian reads your computer's clock and nothing more. 12 or 24 hours, as your computer writes it or as you choose.

macOS 12 or newer and Windows 10 or newer, with the Stream Deck app 7.6 or newer. Works on any Stream Deck with keys; the Infobar action needs a Stream Deck Neo.
