Monitor Brightness Plus
by NiQzen
Overview
Control your external monitor's brightness and Windows Night Light right from your Stream Deck. Monitor Brightness Plus works on every Stream Deck model with keys – no Stream Deck + required. On a Stream Deck +, turn a dial to dim or brighten the display by a step you choose (1–25% per click), press it or tap the touch strip to jump straight to 100%, or hold it to drop to 0%.
Features
Brightness on a key
- Press for 100%, hold for 0%, just like the dial
- Or pick another key action: increase or decrease (hold to keep changing), set a fixed level, or cycle through levels such as 100, 50, 0
- The key shows the current brightness as a percentage
Brightness on a Stream Deck + dial
- Dial rotation adjusts brightness by a configurable step
- Tap or press: 100% brightness
- Hold or long-tap: 0% brightness (hold time adjustable)
- The touch strip shows the current brightness with a live percentage and progress bar, under a custom title
Night Light
- On a key: toggle, turn on or turn off Windows Night Light
- On a dial: turn to change the Night Light strength, press or tap to switch it on or off
- The key and the touch strip show whether Night Light is on, also when you change it in Windows Settings
For every action
- Control all monitors at once or pick a single monitor per key or dial
- Fast rotation is handled smoothly and verified against the monitor, so the display always ends up at the value shown
- A warning icon appears on the action if the monitor does not respond
Requirements
- Windows 10 or 11, Stream Deck 6.9 or later
- Any Stream Deck model with keys; dial features need a Stream Deck +
- An external monitor with DDC/CI enabled in its on-screen menu (developed and tested with an Alienware AW2524HF)
- No extra software needed: brightness is set through the Windows monitor API, and no data leaves your computer
Tips
If brightness does not change, make sure DDC/CI is turned on in your monitor's menu. Some docks and adapters do not pass DDC/CI through, and features like dynamic contrast or HDR modes can lock brightness. Built-in laptop displays are not supported.
A few seconds after you change the Night Light strength, Windows re-applies the display colours once. This can show as a brief flicker, mostly on dark or video content. Windows does the same with its own Night Light slider, so this is expected and not a plugin error.
AI disclosure: AI tools were used to assist with parts of the plugin code and this description. All functionality has been tested on real hardware.
First release. New compared to Monitor Brightness:
• No Stream Deck + required: the Brightness action works on every Stream Deck model with keys (short press 100% / hold 0%, increase, decrease, a fixed level, or cycling through levels)
• New Night Light action: switch it on a key, adjust its strength on a dial; changes made in Windows show up on the device too
