PROBE

Overview

PROBE puts saved API requests on keys: method, headers, body and expectations for the status, the body, a JSON value and the time. It tells an HTTP error from a transport failure from a broken expectation, shows where the time went and keeps a latency trend. Secrets stay in the macOS Keychain.

EXPECTATIONS, JUDGED ONE BY ONE — Status ranges, text in the body, one JSON check such as data.items[0].id exists, and a time limit. The key shows the first that failed, and what it saw.

SAFE BY DESIGN — Reads go out on a tap and may repeat. POST, PUT, PATCH and DELETE need a hold, and never repeat or run in bulk.

SECRETS IN THE KEYCHAIN — Write {{keychain:service}} in a header. PROBE reads it just before sending and never stores, logs or shows it.

REQUEST: One saved request: status, PASS or FAIL, time; hold for the timing.

PROBE CORE: Every request at a glance; tap to run every read.

LATENCY: One request's trend, with median and 95th percentile.

Part of the OPS family: seven operations consoles with one design. On a Stream Deck Neo, its Infobar shows what is happening, or the verdict. No permission needed. Keychain items are read with Apple's own security tool when a header refers to them. macOS 12+, Stream Deck 7.6+. Local only: no account, cloud service, telemetry or subscription.
