Lighting
DMXDesktop
by DMXDesktop
Overview
Control your DMXDesktop lighting rig from your Stream Deck. 34 actions, built for a live room rather than a demo.
Live control. Blackout, strobe, blinder, freeze, fog and effect, on the whole rig or only the groups you choose. Each key can latch or stay momentary, so a blinder you hold and a blackout you set.
Cues and cue stacks. Play effect cues by name and stop them with the same key. Run Programmer cue stacks with real GO, BACK, HALT and STOP keys, and flash a stack from a key.
QuickShow, colour and position. Beam and movement effects, presets, themes and direction. Wash the rig in a colour palette and hand the fixtures back. Recall position presets. Fire special effects.
Dials on Stream Deck +. Master dimmer, Programmer cue faders, macro faders and the DJ crossfader each sit on an encoder with the level in front of you. Turn for fine, press for full.
DJ and audio. DJ mode on or off, deck play, pause and stop, and the crossfader. Choose the capture device, ride the input level, and take tempo from the audio, from Ableton Link or from OS2L.
Everything by name. Every dropdown is filled from your own rig. You pick "Front Wash", not group 294, and only the groups that can actually do the thing you chose are offered.
The keys follow the desk. Change a cue in DMXDesktop and the key changes with it, so no key ever lies about your rig. Keys can name themselves from the rig too.
It says so when it cannot work. A key pointed at a deleted cue tells you. A desk that has gone tells you. A feature your licence does not include tells you, and names it, instead of failing quietly.
Nothing to configure. It finds DMXDesktop on the network by itself, remembers where it was, and comes back on its own when the desk does.
Requires DMXDesktop with its HTTP server enabled, and Stream Deck 7.1 or later on Windows 10 or macOS 12. The 27 key actions run on any Stream Deck; the 7 dial actions need a device with encoders, such as the Stream Deck +. Programmer and DJ keys need a DMXDesktop licence that includes those features; everything else works on any licence.
