Pi Deck

Overview
Pi Deck
Linux monitoring for every box you own, on your Stream Deck. Not only for a Pi: servers, VMs, containers and Raspberry Pis show temperature, CPU, memory, disk, uptime, network, updates and systemd services, with reboot and your own commands. It uses the hosts in your SSH config and installs nothing on the machine.
One session per machine
Pi Deck holds one SSH connection per machine, not one per key. A small shell script on the far end prints a line of readings every few seconds and ends with the connection. No agent, service, scheduled job or file.
The keys
Machine: temperature with a sparkline, CPU and memory. Press for a page with every reading.
Reading: one big number with a sparkline: temperature, CPU, memory, disk, load, uptime, network, swap, voltage or fan.
Updates: packages waiting, and how many are security. Hold to install and watch each package go in.
Service: a systemd unit, green or red. Press to restart it.
Reboot: reboot or shut down, on a two-second hold.
Command: your own command draws the key, another runs when you press it.
All machines: how many are answering, with a page of them.
Power health: under-voltage and throttling on a Raspberry Pi, now and since boot. The reading that explains a slow Pi.
Stream Deck + dials
Turn a Machine dial through its readings, or a Reading dial through your machines. Push to open the page. The touch strip is drawn like the keys.
A machine that goes away says so
Keys hold steady for 30 seconds, so latency never makes them flicker. Then they grey out with how long the machine has been quiet, and turn red once it is offline. They recover on their own.
Works across distributions
apt, dnf, zypper, pacman and apk are each counted and upgraded their own way. Temperature comes from the processor's sensor, chosen by name.
Nothing happens by accident
Reboot, shut down and updates need a two-second hold.
Debian updates use apt upgrade, never dist-upgrade.
Root tasks use sudo -n, which fails instead of waiting for a password, and the key says needs sudo.
Problems are named on the key: SSH key refused, host key not trusted, no answer.
For a homelab, not production
No history, no alerts, and no idea who is pressing the key. Great for a homelab, not for anything people depend on.
Private by design
It uses the ssh on your computer and your own ~/.ssh/config. No account, no API key, and the log never records a host name, an address or command output.
