Gate
Simple Noise Gate
by Videophile
Overview
The easiest way to keep background noise out of your stream. Basic Noise Gate mutes your mic signal when you're not speaking, so your audience hears silence instead of background hum, hiss, and room tone.
What it does for you:
Silences background noise when you're not speaking
Opens instantly and naturally when you talk — no clipping, no artifacts
Three one-click presets (Gentle, Moderate, Aggressive) get you dialed in fast
Real-time visual meter shows exactly what the gate is doing
Under the hood:
Threshold, Attack, Hold, Release, and Suppress controls for full tuning
Sidechain high-pass filter cuts low-end rumble from the detector for tighter response
2ms lookahead prevents click artifacts at gate open
Sidechain listen mode lets you hear exactly what the gate hears
RMS-based detection for smooth, musical gating
Pro tip: Start with the Moderate preset, then drag the threshold on the meter until the gate stays closed during silence but opens cleanly when you speak.
