Overview

Forex Rate is a real-time foreign exchange tracking widget designed for iCUE LCD devices. Track up to three currency pairs with live exchange rates, daily rate changes and customizable visual settings.

iCUE Mode Required: These iCUE widgets are only available when the keyboard is running in iCUE mode with iCUE open. Widgets can not be saved to or used in Device Memory Mode (hardware mode).

iCUE Version Requirement for Widget Availability: iCUE version 5.47 or later is required to use the widgets. We recommend always updating to the latest version of iCUE for the best experience.

Wired Connection Required: To use iCUE widgets, connect the keyboard to your PC with a USB cable and use the keyboard in wired mode.

Enable Screen Widgets for Dial Control for Vanguard 96 series: In iCUE, go to the Rotary Dial tab, enable Screen Widget, and select it as the dial function. Once enabled, you can use the rotary dial to switch between widgets and interact with supported widget functions.

Switching Between Widgets

You can switch between widgets using the following controls:

Vanguard 96 / Vanguard 96 Wireless / Vanguard PRO 96: Press FN + Left/Right Arrow, or turn the dial.

Vanguard AIR 99 WL: Press FN + Left/Right Arrow.

How It Works

The widget fetches current foreign exchange data from the Frankfurter API every 60 seconds, processing reference rates published by central banks to calculate real-time rates and percentage changes. Daily gains and losses are dynamically color-coded in green or red. If network issues occur, automatic retry logic polls every 30 seconds until connection recovers.

Getting Started

No API key is required. Open the widget configuration menu inside iCUE to set up your display:

Navigate to Pairs to select your desired base and quote currencies (such as USD/JPY, EUR/USD, or GBP/USD) for up to three active display slots.

Set any unused Base menu option to "None" to hide extra rows and maintain a clean single- or double-pair display.

Open Personalization to adjust the background color to match your desktop setup.

Attribution

Foreign exchange rate data is sourced from the Frankfurter API, utilizing reference data published by the European Central Bank.
