On Air: Mic In Use for Windows
by GRAMSHIFT
Overview
For meetings, calls and streams: see on your Stream Deck whether an app is recording from a microphone of your Windows PC right now, and which app. The key turns red (IN USE or ON AIR) while a mic is in use and goes back to OFF when the app stops.
Features
Mic In Use: red IN USE and the app's name while an app records from a mic
On Air: an on-air light on a key, a big red ON AIR lamp while an app records, with the app; OFF AIR otherwise
Several apps at once: one name and "+1"
All recording devices are watched (headset, webcam mic, USB mic)
On Air can ignore apps you name (a voice assistant, for example)
Press: open the Windows microphone privacy settings
Updates every second
English and Japanese
Privacy
It never listens to the microphone. It only asks Windows (Core Audio) which apps have a recording stream running.
No account, no telemetry; nothing is sent anywhere.
Requirements and limits
Windows 10 or later, Stream Deck app 6.9 or later
Read only: it does not mute, turn off or block anything, and it changes no setting
It does not watch the camera
A mute switch on the microphone or headset itself is invisible to Windows: the key stays IN USE
An app that is muted but keeps recording still counts as IN USE
When Windows does not answer, the keys show "--"
Not a security tool: it shows only what Windows reports

First release with two actions. Mic In Use shows whether an app is recording from a microphone right now, and which app. On Air is a red lamp while any app records. Read only. English and Japanese.
