Tailwind iQ3 Control
by WDX Global
Overview
Tailwind iQ3 Control brings your [Tailwind](https://gotailwind.com/) smart garage door controller to Stream Deck - talking directly to the device over your local network, with no cloud service, account, or OAuth flow of any kind.
### What's included
Garage Door (key) is the plugin's one action, and it does a lot:
- Shows the door's current status as a live, colour-coded illustration - a roller-door or swing-gate graphic, drawn closed, open, or mid-motion, whichever you tell it this key controls.
Opens or closes the door on a short tap or a press-and-hold, your choice. The device only exposes separate open/close commands, not a toggle, so the plugin tracks the door's last-known state itself and sends whichever command is the opposite - pressing the key still behaves like a simple toggle.
Shows a distinct blue "in motion" frame with a directional arrow the instant a command is sent, then swaps to the real settled state once the device confirms it (polled every 2 seconds for up to 30).
All 7 tile colours are configurable per key - frame, closed, open, locked-out, disabled, unknown/unreachable, and in-motion - each with its own reset-to-default button.
Supports up to 3 doors or gates per device - exactly how many depends on your iQ3 model. The Door list is fetched live from your device, and auto-selects itself when there's only one.
A per-key host override lets any individual key talk to a different Tailwind device than the plugin's global one - useful for a second property or unit.
### How it talks to your Tailwind device
The Tailwind iQ3 has a dead-simple local-only HTTP API - no token exchange, no redirect flow, no relay server, and this plugin never contacts any Tailwind server at all:
- Every request is a plain POST to http://{device IP}/json, authenticated with a static 6-digit Local Control Key copied once from the Tailwind web portal - the same key every third-party integration (Home Assistant, Control4, Crestron, and this plugin) uses.
Status (open/closed, lockup, disabled, for up to 3 doors) is polled every 15 seconds while a key is visible, plus immediately after you press it.
Control uses separate open/close commands (no toggle at the API level), which is why the plugin tracks last-known state itself.
Because this is local-network-only, the Stream Deck machine must be on the same network as the device - there's no "control it from anywhere" option a cloud integration could offer.
### Requirements
- A Tailwind iQ3, on the same local network as the computer running Stream Deck.
The device's IP address and its Global Key (both in the Tailwind app/portal - see the README). Per-device Local Control Keys aren't available yet, so use the account-wide Global Key for now.
Harden the connection to Tailwind iQ3 to improve performance and reduce any potential errors being generated with Request Header Fields being too large.
