3D Filament Tracker
by Adx.cool
Overview
Spool inventory, print cost and a drying timer for 3D printing, on your Stream Deck.
A spool's remaining weight is the one number nobody has. The label says 1 kg, the slicer says this print takes 34 g, and somewhere between the two is the question you care about at 11pm: will this finish?
Add your spools once — name, material, net weight, and what you paid. Point the plugin at your Klipper printer and it subtracts every print as it happens. No weighing, no spreadsheet.
── DOES THIS WORK WITH MY PRINTER? ──
The five-second test: open your printer's address in a web browser. If the page says Mainsail or Fluidd, this plugin works — and that address is what you paste into setup.
Klipper is firmware: the software running on the printer itself, in place of the Marlin most printers shipped with for a decade. Moonraker is the small companion program that answers questions about it over your network. This plugin talks to Moonraker the same way Mainsail and Fluidd do.
• Ships with it — Sovol SV07 and SV08, Elegoo Neptune 4, QIDI X-Plus 3 and Q1 Pro, FLSUN, Two Trees SK1, and every self-built Voron, RatRig or VzBot • Works after the usual conversion — any Marlin printer with a Raspberry Pi running Klipper: Ender 3, Ender 5, CR-10, Anycubic, Artillery. Creality K1 and K1 Max need the community helper script first, because Creality ships no web interface • Not yet — Bambu Lab and Prusa as sold, and anything still on stock Marlin. The full list, and why, is in the FAQ below
── WHAT IT DOES ──
THE SHELF • Spool Remaining — grams and percentage, amber below the point you shouldn't start an overnight print • Spool Card — one spool pinned to one key, in its own colour; three keys and the whole shelf is on the deck at a glance • Spool Selector — which spool is loaded; press to cycle, and a swap mid-print bills the right spool • Job Weight — grams laid down by this print, against what's left
WHAT IT COSTS • Job Cost — filament, plus electricity once you've entered a tariff • Power Cost — watt-hours and money for the running job, and the month • Month Spend — this calendar month, split between material and power
AND ONE THAT NEEDS NO PRINTER • Dry Timer — counts down on the material's own preset, and survives closing Stream Deck, restarting your machine, and going to bed
── OR POINT IT AT SPOOLMAN ──
Already running Spoolman? Paste its address and the keys read your real database — names, materials, colours and remaining weight, straight over HTTP. No printer required, and nothing is ever written back, so the plugin cannot corrupt your inventory.
On a Klipper machine, Spoolman is found through Moonraker on its own, and Moonraker stays the one doing the subtracting — so a gram is never counted twice.
── BUILT TO DROP IN ──
• Price from your receipt, not a rate — you paid €22.90 for a spool, not €22.90 per kilo, and two spools at one price but different weights don't cost the same per kilo • Handles the awkward cases — a plugin restart mid-print doesn't double-charge, a cancelled print keeps what it extruded, and swapping spools halfway doesn't bill the whole job to the new one • Honest about estimates — leave the electricity tariff at zero and power stays out of every total rather than showing a convincing zero • Dark and light themes, with every value auto-sized to stay sharp on a 72px key • Works without a printer — the dryer timer, the shelf and the prices are all yours to keep; connect a printer when you want the subtraction automated
Version 1.0 speaks Spoolman directly and Klipper via Moonraker. Keys that need a live printer say so on their face rather than showing a confident zero. OctoPrint and OctoEverywhere arrive in 1.1.
First release. Eight actions: spool remaining, spool card, spool selector, job weight, job cost, power cost, month spend and a drying timer that needs no printer connection.
